I can’t remember a time I haven’t had my nose stuck in a book, magazine or newspaper – reading is my first love, and how I came to be a journalist and writer. The more I read, the more I want to write.
It’s also why I’ve stayed in journalism for 18 years and counting. I cut my teeth in community newspapers before working for the NBR, then for Radio NZ covering and presenting the business news. I couldn’t leave broadcasting behind forever – I recently returned to the Radio NZ newsroom part-time.
As a freelance journalist, I write about a range of topics from business to lifestyle. I enjoy the variety and challenge of quickly getting ahead on a new topic – one day I might be writing a column, the next it could be a feature or profile.
My stories have been published in the NZ Herald’s Canvas magazine, and careers website Yudu, the Institute of Directors magazine BoardRoom, Good magazine and Idealog, and publications for NZTE, and I have a regular column in Farmers Weekly.
I pitch story ideas to editors, and also take on commissioned work for media and private clients. Please click on the contact tab to get in touch.
This website has a selection of my recent work, and my blog – a chance for me to write about whatever captures my interest and have a go at writing some personal essays.
